How much should AWS Engineers earn?

The average AWS Engineer salary is £76,987, based on expected salaries of 630 AWS Infrastructure Engineers looking for UK-based work on cord in 2021. The average salary range of Mid-Senior level AWS Engineer positions in the UK is £46,391–78,389. These insights break down the details of the salary expectations of AWS Infrastructure Engineers by years of experience and seniority, as well as the salaries listed on AWS Engineer positions at different seniority levels.

Up to 8 years’ experience, AWS Engineer salaries increase at an average of £5,962 per year from £35,769 to £83,462. Above 8 years’ experience they begin to level out, and don’t tend to significantly exceed £85,000 on average. However, at 13 and 14 years’ experience salaries of around or above £95,000 are not uncommon.

On average, UK-based AWS Engineers expect the following salaries:

  • Entry-level: £36,818
  • Junior: £44,286
  • Mid: £62,716
  • Senior: £84,813
  • Lead: £93,992

AWS Engineers who become Lead level (i.e., middle managers) can expect to earn more than most of the most experienced Senior AWS Engineers who remain in fully hands-on roles.

Salary ranges of AWS Engineer positions

Based on the expectations data above, AWS Engineers tend to expect salaries within the mid-point ranges at Entry and Junior level, but at Mid level they tend to expect salaries in line with the upper salary limits. At Senior and Lead Level, AWS Engineer salary expectations exceed the upper limits of what companies are, on average, willing to offer them.
